Details Of Massachusetts Colonial Style Homes

Colonial is a popular design for single family real estate. This style dates back to the 1800s and is therefore often found in historical districts. It has distinct elements that separate it from other property designs. Below are details of Massachusetts colonial style homes.

Details Of Massachusetts Colonial Style Homes

Colonial style homes are often single family buildings with two complete levels and a square footprint. Both levels often have the same footprint. The layout is traditionally symmetrical with the main entrance in the center and windows on both sides of the entry way, although newer interpretations of the design will sometimes have the front door off to one side. The top floor features the bedrooms and the bottom floor features the living room, dining room, kitchen, and perhaps a family room. The entrance opens to a foyer with stairs to the upper level. An attached garage or exterior deck are also frequently seen features of Colonial homes. Roof styles differ but will ordinarily allow for attic space. Additions provide unique twists to the square shape of a traditional Colonial style houses.

Appeal of Colonial Style

Colonial properties are popular for several reasons. Many consider it preferred to have the bedrooms on a different level from common living areas. There are also a variety of added features and variations of Colonial style properties that are visually enticing. Farmers porches, columns, decorative entry ways, and dramatic foyers are just a few enhancements. You will find many Colonial real estate listed for sale, specifically for high-end houses. I originate my own loans from start to finish and work hand in hand with my loan processors & underwriters to make sure I am updated to the minute with all of my files. I stay up to date with lending guidelines and speak with underwriters on a daily basis to ensure I am aware of all of the lending guidelines in place.
