Information On Buying Real Estate In 55+ Communities In MA

Buying real estate in 55+ communities differs from other types of real estate. 55+ communities may include different features, amenities, and restrictions. Below includes information on buying real estate in 55+ communities in MA.

What Defines 55+ Communities

55+ communities are age-restricted. The precise restrictions are based on the specific community. Some require just one occupant be at least age 55 while others are stricter and mandate that all residents to be at least 62 years old, making it a 62+ community. Some permit minors and others forbid them. It is critical to know all of the restrictions before proceeding with a purchase.

Typical Features Of 55+ Communities

55+ communities are designed to provide care free living for its residents. Most come with certain amenities. Tennis courts, golf courses, swimming pools, gyms, and club houses are very popular. An association is generally responsible for everyday upkeep of the grounds, home exterior, and shared amenities. Many may also run recreational programs. Ask about any dues for these things.

Real estate within 55+ communities ordinarily come with certain features. Among these are a master suite on the first level, smaller yards, and low-maintenance products. For new construction buildings, certain features may require an added charge. Model units are usually enhanced to showcase all features, so do not presume that all features of a model are included.
