My family was looking to relocate from Connecticut and looking for a professional to help us secure financing for our new home. Chris was recommended to me by an acquaintance in Massachusetts. We had spoken to two other mortgage professionals in the area and were not comfortable with the level of service nor their expertise of the mortgage industry. Once we spoke to Chris and he was able to answer all our questions and address our concerns, we moved forward with Chris to secure financing for our purchase. We made an offer on a house and after some negotiating an agreement was reached, we were ready to move forward.
With a rather large 30 year mortgage ahead of us we decided it would be prudent to check with the large bank that had held our current mortgage. Before signing on the "dotted line", we wanted to be sure we were making the best financial decision we could for our family. Said bank came back with a great rate and low closing costs and a few incentives while promising they would be able to meet our closing deadlines. We called Chris to see if he could match the rate, his lenders were unable to. Chris closed with "I will provide personal service and you will not be a number with us but I do not have a lender that can match those terms. Good luck with everything and please keep us in mind in the future." We were disappointed as we truly respected and trusted Chris but with so much money involved we felt we needed to go with our current lender.
Two days before our commitment date we received an email from the other bank explaining that they had overlooked the lending limits in our area and would not be able to structure/provide the loan as promised and would not be able to meet our deadlines. They did however offer to provide financing with completely different terms and new dates as well as suggested to “speed things along” or to get an exception on lending limits, we move all of our financial assets to their institution. Needless to say, the terms were not favorable to us and we were appalled they expected us to give them more business after "overlooking" their lending limits in our area!
We called Chris at 8PM in a panic to see if he would be interested in taking us back as clients and if there was anything he could do for us. Chris returned our phone call within the hour. Chris treated us with complete respect as we explained everything and forwarded correspondence to show that the decision was not made based on our finances and nothing in our application was inaccurate. It was truly the other banks error. Not once did Chris say or hint at an "I told you so", which he was well within his rights to do. The phone call closed this time with Chris assuring us he'd call us in the morning after he reviewed everything and a promise he'd do whatever he could.
The next day we received a call from Chris as promised with hope that something could be done. Chris, his staff, and his lenders worked swiftly with our attorney to assist us. Not wanting to be "cut out of the deal", the other bank tried to throw up roadblocks but Chris fought tirelessly for us. Chris was able to help us secure a loan with favorable terms and close in 3 weeks.
As I write this review I am still so very grateful for Chis' professionalism and knowledge of the industry but mostly for the respect and compassion he showed our family during a very stressful time. I truly believe without Chris I would not be sitting in my new home now.
Without hesitation I would recommend Chris as a mortgage broker and I would not hesitate to use him again.
